Our Standard
Operation Share the Love exists to provide a positive, respectful environment where individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities can share genuine encouragement with the heroes who serve and protect others.
Every encouragement submitted to the OSTL platform may be automatically reviewed before being published. Our standard is simple: encourage heroes. Nothing else.
OSTL is not intended to be a social media platform, advertising platform, political forum, dating or networking service, fundraising platform, or a place to promote businesses, organizations, products, causes, or personal agendas.
What We Welcome
Encouragements should be positive, respectful, appropriate, and focused on heroes. Appropriate messages may include:
- Appreciation and gratitude
- Encouragement and support
- Hope and kindness
- Recognition of service and sacrifice
- Positive wishes for heroes and their families
- Appropriate personal stories intended to encourage
- Respectful expressions of faith, prayer, or blessing
"Thank you for everything you do for our community. Your service matters and is appreciated."
"Praying for your safety and your family. Thank you for serving others."
What Is Not Allowed
Inappropriate Language or Content
Profanity, obscenities, vulgar or sexually explicit language, crude jokes, inappropriate slang, or attempts to disguise prohibited words.
Hate, Harassment, Threats, or Discrimination
Content that attacks, threatens, intimidates, demeans, harasses, or promotes hatred or discrimination toward an individual or group.
Political Content
Promotion or opposition of political candidates, parties, campaigns, elections, political organizations, movements, legislation, partisan viewpoints, slogans, or political calls to action. OSTL exists to unite people around encouragement, not politics.
Business Promotion or Advertising
Advertising or promoting businesses, organizations, products, services, sales, events, discount codes, commercial opportunities, or other promotional content. Businesses and organizations may receive recognition elsewhere on the OSTL platform, but the encouragement itself is for the hero, not for advertising.
Contact Information, Links, or Social Media
Encouragements may not contain phone numbers, email addresses, physical or mailing addresses, websites, URLs, QR codes, social media handles, profile links, or invitations to follow, message, friend, subscribe to, or otherwise contact the sender.
Solicitation, Fundraising, or Recruiting
Messages may not request donations, purchases, sponsorships, petition signatures, participation in fundraisers, employment, memberships, or involvement with outside businesses, organizations, churches, political groups, advocacy groups, or other programs.
Personal or Romantic Solicitation
OSTL may not be used to pursue romantic or sexual relationships, request private communication, arrange meetings, or exchange personal contact information.
Dangerous or Illegal Content
Messages may not promote or provide instructions for violence, criminal activity, self-harm, harm to others, illegal drug use, substance abuse, or other dangerous or unlawful behavior.
Private or Sensitive Information
Messages should not contain passwords, financial information, government identification numbers, private medical information, or other sensitive personal information.
Impersonation
Users may not impersonate or intentionally misrepresent another person, business, government agency, military organization, first responder organization, or other entity.
Spam or Unrelated Content
Spam, repetitive or meaningless content, unrelated material, or messages primarily intended to complain, debate, criticize, advertise, recruit, network, solicit, provoke, or promote an outside agenda may be rejected.
Faith-Based Encouragement
Respectful expressions of faith are welcome when their purpose is encouragement. Messages such as "God bless you," "We are praying for your safety," or "May God protect you and your family" are appropriate.
Faith-based messages may not attack or condemn another person's beliefs, initiate religious debates, pressure someone to adopt a belief, or recruit someone into a religious organization.
Business and Organization Names
A sender may appropriately identify themselves or their organization as part of a genuine encouragement.
Appropriate: "From everyone at Smith Construction, thank you for serving our community."
Not appropriate: "Smith Construction is the area's #1 roofing company. Call us for a free estimate!"
How Messages Are Reviewed
OSTL may use automated technology, including artificial intelligence, to evaluate submitted encouragements based on their language, context, meaning, and apparent purpose.
- Approved and posted when it meets OSTL standards.
- Returned for revision when prohibited content is identified.
- Held for human review when the meaning or context is uncertain.
- Rejected or removed when it violates OSTL standards.
If Your Message Is Not Approved
A message that is not approved is not necessarily offensive. It may simply contain something that does not fit the purpose of the OSTL Encouragement Platform, such as advertising, political content, contact information, social media promotion, solicitation, or unrelated content.
Users may revise their encouragement and submit it again. Before submitting, ask one simple question: "Is the purpose of my message to encourage a hero?"
